Sulistyowati Irianto is a Professor of Anthropology in Universitas Indonesia (UI), specializing in the feminist anthropology of law. She conducted an array of research and published books on law and public policy as well as women’s rights in Indonesia. She earned a Bachelor of Public Administration from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), followed by a Master of the Anthropology of Law from UI and Leiden University, and a doctorate in the Anthropology of Law from UI. She was appointed to the International Commission on Legal Pluralism (2006-2014) and is a member of the Asian Initiative on Legal Pluralism, which she co-founded in Canada in 2004. She was also the chairwoman for UI’s Women and Gender Studies Center (2002-2010), the chairwoman for UI’s Anthropology Master’s Program (2009-2012), and the chairwoman for UI’s Multidisciplinary Master’s Program (2013-2016). She received the High Performing Scholar Award from Kompas (2014) and the Soetandyo Wignyosubroto Award from Airlangga University (2015).
