Governors’ Climate and Forest Task Force Indonesia
Six Indonesian governors have joined together to find ways to stop deforestation and fight climate change. The six governors come from the most forested provinces in Indonesia: Central Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, Aceh, Papua, and West Papua. The governors belong to the Governors’ Climate and Forest Task Force (GCF) which is a unique sub-national alliance of 29 provinces and states from eight countries including Indonesia. The GCF seeks to support low-emission rural development (LED-R) as well as reducing emission from deforestation and land use (REDD+) at the level of jurisdictions. In Indonesia, INOBU acts as the country coordinator for the GCF. We provide research, technical and logistical assistance to the GCF members to support their transition to low emission-rural development.
