Harry Surjadi is the founder and Executive Director of the Society of Indonesian Environmental Journalists (SEIJ). He has worked as a reporter and editor covering agriculture, technology, and the environment for 20 years. From 2007 to 2008, Surjadi was a Knight International Journalism Fellow in Indonesia. Surjadi began his journalism career at Trubus, an agriculture magazine. He then worked for the Kompas daily for nearly 10 years. In 2000, Surjadi helped to develop Astaga.com, an Internet news portal. He has worked as a freelance reporter and media trainer in Indonesia and elsewhere in the region. He also has taught courses in online communication at Pelita Harapan University. Surjadi wrote a chapter about Indonesia for the 2004 book “Climate Change: Five Years After Kyoto.” Surjadi has also launched a mobile environmental news service for rural Indonesians with little access to information, partnering with the leading radio news network in Indonesia.
